- Efficient Furnaces: Our modern natural gas-fired furnaces and aging furnaces are designed to achieve billets and extrusion products with the minimum carbon footprint. By utilizing efficient technology, we reduce our environmental impact.
- Green Billets: We are proud to announce that we will soon be manufacturing aluminium profiles using green billets produced entirely from 100% clean energy sources. This step aligns with our commitment to sustainability and responsible resource utilization.
- Solar Energy Transition: Looking ahead, our goal is to further minimize our carbon footprint. We plan to transition our manufacturing processes to utilize electricity generated from solar energy. By harnessing the power of the sun, we contribute to a greener future.
Konarka Metals is committed to minimizing its environmental impact from the outset. Currently, we manufacture aluminium extrusion profiles from both primary and secondary billets. However, moving forward, our primary focus will be on utilizing secondary aluminium as our main source. Here are the reasons for this shift:
- Sustainability: Aluminium is infinitely recyclable, with approximately 75% of all aluminium ever produced still in use today.
- Energy Efficiency: Recycling aluminium requires up to 95% less energy than producing primary metal.
- Recycled Content: Currently, about a third of the aluminium used globally is produced from recycled scrap, and this percentage is predicted to rise to 50% by 2050 according to data from the International Aluminium Institute (2019). 🌿🌎♻️
